Providing resources and training that bring people to Christ and empower the Church.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."  Mark 10:27

As the communications ministry of the church, one of our roles is to provide resources and training to congregations and leaders across the global church, and to empower them to share Jesus’ message of hope.

Think back to times in your life when you have felt lost or alone. What helped you emerge from a sorrowful place? For one young man who lived near the World Trade Center in September of 2001, day after day he walked past a banner created by The United Methodist Church. In the midst of churning grief he read: “Fear is not the only force at work in the world today.” Over time, reading that message changed him. It impelled him to return to his faith and to find grace and new life through it.
The banner was there because of Igniting Ministry, which offers a new kind of evangelism. Messages in the national media remind people that they are loved by God. Since 2000, this welcoming ministry of the church has brought many seekers to Christ. Through it, approximately 40,000 congregational leaders have been trained to reach out in news ways, and millions of dollars in grants have been given to help local congregations spread the word out about their ministries.

This year it will cost close to $7 million to continue the evangelism and outreach efforts of Igniting Ministry, and to provide expanded support to new congregations. Your gift will change someone’s life—instead of feeling lost or empty, people reached through Igniting Ministry will have a new opportunity to find healing and a spiritual home.
